From the artist
There is something so awe-inspiring about seeing a heron or a crane burst into flight! Perhaps it’s because these birds can be so shy and elusive, or there’s something incredible about the way that a gangly, awkward bird can be transformed into a beautiful emblem of grace in the sky.
This painting is a tribute to the love I feel for my now former home on Silver Lake in Everett, WA. For 5 years, amidst the noise, heat, and crowded hustle of suburbia, the lake was my little pocket of serenity; my connection to the natural world. I walked around the tiny lake almost every day, which means that I witnessed it in all types of weather. I must say that the misty, cloudy days were my favorite. And anytime I glimpsed the rare heron in flight, I felt blessed!
